School systems have been the same for decades and are not adapted to today’s teen necessities. Students think that they have to choose their study plan too early and that they spend too many hours at school. Not all teachers are qualified for their job, especially for interacting with teens and children, they’re also often too old.
Teachers are also underpaid despite the importance of their role in society. Lessons are made in a frontal and not interactive way, in which students could participate more. Infrastructures and buildings for education are in bad conditions, old and not well taken care of.
In general, there’s not enough funding for the education system. Schools don’t provide material (like textbooks etc) and we think that it would be important, because learning should be more accessible.
Classes are too big and often there’s differences in the level of the students. Degrees don’t have that much of a value when you have to find a job and that’s another problem. Schools are not accessible and inclusive for people with special needs, both in learning (dyslexic, ADHD, children who don’t speak the main language) and for physical handicaps, for example someone in a wheelchair. There’s no proper sexual and relationships education, digital education and civic education, and when there are the courses problems are not talked about in the right way and/or the lessons are not engaging.
Let's discuss!
Suggested demands:
Increase funding for the education system and school infrastructures
Establish courses or classes for teachers on how to interact with students
Offer more interactive lessons
